Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | Mycenaean skyphos; foot and other parts missing. Interior painted with a dark slip, in places fired red. Exterior wide red band about mouth. Below on a level with the handle joins a concentric row of double half circles. Below this, and the handles a second concentric band, with a reserved line in the center. Buff clay. ADDENDA 2018: Large deep bowl with flaring rim and two horizontal, round-section handles (one completely preserved). The decoration on the exterior consists of Group B banding: a wide rim band (0.035 m) and two medium bands below the handles. The handles are decorated with a single splash at the apex. In the handle zone there is a continuous row of isolated semicircles. The interior is monochrome. Paint streaky, but evenly fired brown. An interesting use-wear is seen on the interior consisting of fine parallel scratches, most intense on the lower-interior. Furumark Shape: 284; Furumark Motif 1: 43 | |
