Description:   An incised five-pointed star, partly broken off at left. A similar star scratched on a late 7th. c. B.C. plate from Smyrna is called an owner's or merchant's mark: L.H. Jeffery, B.S.A. 59, 1964, p. 40, no. 12.
In the 5th c. the star may have sometimes been an apotropaic symbol: cf. W. Schiering, Olympische Forschungen V, 1964, p. 155, no. 67, and p. 157.
