Title:   Amphora: West Slope

Description:   A small bit of the rim, fragments from the neck and sides, one handle, and part of the other missing. Much mended. Moulded, flaring foot ring; squat body; slightly flaring lip; twisted handles. The neck is marked off, just below the lip, and above the shoulder, by a scraped groove.
Pendent between the handles, on both neck and shoulder, garlands, painted in clay color, with very faint traces of white. On the neck, an ivy garland, with both leaves and berries; on the shoulder, a grape vine, with leaves, tendrils and fruits.
Good black glaze, inside and out, fired red in part. Two unglazed lines around the foot, and one on the resting surface. Daintier work than P 599 and P 600, of similar shape and type.
