Title:   Panathenaic Amphora

Description:   Mended from many pieces; one handle, piece from mouth, fragments from walls and chips from foot missing.
On neck: palmettes.
A) Athena, left; on each pillar an owl.
Plastic ring at join of neck, line above panel of side B, pair of lines below pictures all around the vase, another pair above the rays, are in diluted clay having a color brown instead of the usual red.
B) Charioteer and chariot driving right; he holds the reins with both hands and the goad in the right.
White for Athena's flesh, shield device (two dolphins) helmet, crest, patterns of her garment and aegis, charioteer's chiton and third horse.
Buff-pink clay. Very good glaze.
