Title: | Hekataion | |
Category: | Sculpture | |
Description: | Heads missing; bottom somewhat broken, seems to have been cut to fit in socket. The three figures stand with backs together, the line of their extended arms holding out drapery which forms a double frame between them, save in the case of one which has the right arm bent sharply at the elbow. They are dressed in peplum with overfall girt at the waist and hanging below in regular folds. The skirt is done in the style if some of the Acropolis maidens, clinging to the legs and drawn out on either side, with bunched folds hanging down the middle. Indifferent work, much battered. Pentelic marble. | |
