Title: | Relief Fragment with Head and Shoulder of Draped Figure
Category: | Sculpture | |
Description: | Behind the head, part of the back of the relief is preserved, the thickest point may be the complete thickness. Left side of figure preserved to below shoulder and breast. Front, left side of head shaved off; nose completely missing and chin chipped. Head turns its right side toward the background so as to be seen in three-quarter front view, and it droops a little. The hair is bound above by a fillet and falls in curly locks over the shoulder, front and back. The figure I clothed in a chiton (?) with loose fold below the neck. Rasp marks on drapery and on right (inner) side of neck. Hair on right side of head summarily done. Modeling and finish in general rather careful. Scale same as S 190 (E 143). Pentelic marble.
