Description: | Legs, tail and lower jaw broken away. The body and head of a lion meant to be viewed from the left side since hair, hide and musculature more carefully detailed and finished there. Head looks straight ahead except for slight turn to proper left. Eyes are deep-set. Locks of the mane are brushed back from the face, made of several strands of hair with pointed ends turning either left or right. The locks are arranged in rows and lie flat on the head and shoulders with a double row placed opposite one another continuing along the spine as far as the rear haunches. Fine grained white marble with mica. | |
