Title:   Kithara Fragment

Description:   First interpretation: in relief, a column, with incised fluting, and a square abacus.
Broken at bottom and upper right (or lower left) corner. The upper and side edges finished. The sides of the column at the bottom, where the background is broken away, are finished; it is broken off below.
The column tapers towars the bottom. Above the abacus there is a ridge in relief running parallel to its top, and turning up at a right angle at the left.
Traces of white paint on front and back.
Soft yellowish buff clay.
ADDENDA: A kithara with five incised strings. The sides are not modelled in relief. Breaks at points of attachment (?).
Context:   Cistern chamber.
