Notes: | We are clearing up the pit L with a view to going deeper. In straightening the scarp of pit Efstathy found some good sherds. Some with red spiral dec. seem of very fine pot perhaps LM I. Also a good piece dark on light with part of marine design LM II. Efstathy declares they came from a hard strosis 0.85-0.95 deep. A piece of Minyan ware also. This level = L V 0.80-1.00. [Nakassis: It appears that, since B32 and B35 are the only widening operations described prior to this basket, that in this basket CWB takes the widening operation all the way down to 1.20 m below ground from 0.40 below ground, since his next basket (L VII, B100) is 1.20-1.40 m below ground. However, since he is mainly interested in getting deeper, and as he has kept pottery from these levels already, he only keeps the good pottery, which as he says comes from a hard strosis which belongs to L V. This is why he says that this level = L V; he is only interested in the pottery kept.] | |
