We uncovered the NE sect. of M in two layers, the first 0-10, sec. 10-18. As very few potsherds were found in the first layer the sherds of the two layers were put together. In this NE sect. we found a baetylic col. base 1.70 m from the north wall end 1.70 m from the east wall. See diagram pg. 17.
Note
Sherds found in NE sect. of M were very coarse and were "hurled"
June 21st
The Mycenaean pottery found in the same sect. was of the latest period, most of it was "hurled".
[NB 84 p. 26, written by CWB]
Most of the morning the men spent moving dirt. The only exciting event was the finding of a Baetylic col. base in House M Scott’s district. The base found June 7th (cf. p. 23) is made of hard conglomerate and is not perfectly round. It is in axis of the room. 2.00 m northeast of it we have now found a round col base of the same soft greenish stone used for baetyl of Megaron house. Just west of a line drawn between these 2 col. bases in house M is the paved hearth.
