Stratum: | House M, megaron floor
Notes: | In the northeast quarter of this room we found a floor level and I had the workers clear the floor for some distance. This floor is 21 cm below the level of the east wall of the megaron. We cleared this floor for a distance of 6.75 meters southward from the north wall of the megaron. [James-Nakassis: This floor was revealed by B 55, which went down to 28 cm below ground. The floor of B 72 may be the same floor, as the basket above B 72, B 59, only went down to 18 cm below ground. So probably B86=B55=B72. This also means that the top of the megaron’s east wall was about 7 cm below ground level.] Tzonou-Herbst=This floor is 21 cm below the level of the east wall, while B 55 is 28 cm below ground and B 72 could be 18 cm below ground. I would be cautious because a. the basis of measurement is not the same, and b. successive floors in Mycenaean sites can be put in for a depth of 10 cm, the difference between the floors in question, assuming that floors are all measured from the same point.
