Stratum:   Fill of well; brown sandy clay with 5% pebbles and charcoal
Notes:   Basket 7 is the continuation of the fill of Well 2002-2, after an arbitrary change from B6. Two more large pieces of the well head came up, which join with the fragment found in B6, making about 1/3 of the total diameter of the cylindrical limestone well head with square base. These two fragments of well head come from a depth of 81.45 m. The 4th and 5th fragments of well head were discovered at a depth of 81.25 m. The 6th and 7th fragments of well head were found at a depth of 81.20 m. All the fragments of well head are being kept together, and separate from the limestone slabs and blocks.
At the beginning of this basket 7 and the end of the last (B6), the excavators descended to the bottom of the well, 10.80 m. below the platform, an elevation of 81.45 m. above sea level. At that level the dirt and pieces of well head were seen to entirely fill the bottom of the well, with three sets of hand/foot holds continuing down to that level and probably below it. These three sets of hand/foot holds are oriented on three sides of the well, roughly equidistant from one another, with one on the N side, one on the SW and the third, a bit shallower at the bottom of B6, on the SE, at the point where the intersecting double lobes of the well come to a point. The well is still strongly double lobed, with the NE lobe a bit larger in diameter than the SW lobe. The hand/foot holds on N and SW continue up and down in more or less a straight line, but the SE set diverges from the intersection of the lobes near the top of the well, and moves to the N, to be closer to the N set. The hand/foot holds as measured at the bottom of B6 and top of B7 are about 24 cm. wide, 11 cm. high and 8.5 cm. deep, with varying vertical distances between them, roughly from 40 to 30 cm.
