Stratum:   fill N of wall 215; reddish-brown loose silty soil with 20% inclusions, poorly sorted
Notes:   Basket 23 comes down on a discrete layer of darker/blacker soil that we will take out as a separate basket; this darker soil seems consistent with the darker soil around the well-head and in the E part of our trench. This could be a result of mixed fill, however, as patches of red are found among the darker soil. Finds include bone, glass, and fragments of painted plaster, possible destruction debris/building material.
