Stratum: | fill N of wall 215; brownish loose silty soil w/ 10-15% inclusions
Notes: | Basket 31 is the removal of fill directly underneath the yellowish compact surface. We are getting a lot of painted plaster and few to no tile fragments. As notes, this soil looks similar to B27. we are coming upon a layer of redder soil but the relationship between this soil and the soil at the end of basket 28 is not immediately obvious (colluvium). In the N part of this basket, we are coming down upon scattered yellowish patches of pulverized building material among brownish soil (loose and silty); we noticed this same scattered pulverized material at the bottom of basket 27; we are changing baskets at this level and have left the redder soil in the S part of the basket. It seems that the brownish soil of B31 is later than the redder material mentioned on p. 75.
