Name:   NB976 B47 P109
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   976
Context:   47
Page:   109
Date:   2006/05/16
Stratum:   Fill abutting eastern wall that divides B39 from NB 977 B45.
Notes:   Compacted coarse-grained, silty sand dark-brown w/ 30% inclusions of large amounts of red-painted plaster, medium pebbles. This fill appears to be moderately sorted. At the north end 3 large tiles made of red clay with a light green glaze sit. These were removed in the course of the excavation. Small finds include glass and bronze.
As was mentioned in B46, this basket was begun because it was thought that B47 cut the stratum that contained white marl. In the course of the digging it quickly became apparent that B47 was cut by the white marl and not the other way around. Excavation of this stratum was stopped, the area was cleaned, and preparations were made to dig the white marl as B48. The stratum that B47 contains will be continued at a later time in a different basket. Because B47 was indeed earlier than B48, there is the possibility of contamination.
