Stratum:   Fill S of wall 291: loose silty sand, greyish-brown w/ 40% inclusions of small-coarse pebbles, some tile, little plaster, poorly sorted.
Notes:   B 68 is the removal of a soft patch of soil that will expose a uniform layer that may be a destruction layer. Small pick used throughout. Basket will be sieved 4 zembils dry to 1 zembil water sieved. A large stone (dimensions as yet unknown) was uncovered at the bottom of the trench. It is difficult ot tell if it has been worked or not but it appears quite rectangular. Also found was the complete base of some sort of pot. This was sent to the museum as was a complete ring about 8 cm in diameter. More tile found as the trench moved to the west. At the E end of the trench, the stratum dips down over the eastern side of the rock. It is probably part of a leveling fill over this rock. At the bottom of the trench a soil type was found that matches with the rest of the nearby area. This will be dug as B 69. Tiles: 7 fragments = 3.3kg.
