Stratum:   Fill S of wall 291, phase 1and W of wall 290: loose yellowish-brown silty sand with 20% inclusions of medium to coarse pebbles, poorly sorted.
Notes:   The purpose of B75 is the removal of the floor area that was completely exposed after the removal of the square feature. We have some doubt as to whether this is a floor or not. The soil does seem more compact than the surrounding dirt but it has also been exposed to the sun and our feet for at least two weeks. No floor level was found in the excavation of the destruciton debris (B67-71) despite the fact that careful attention was paid to finding it. The layer of broken pottery did not lie on top of a compact layer of dirt, as near was we could tell. That being said, the square feature did not cut this layer. The best evidence that this was a floor is that the square feature was built on top of it. Perhaps some other process destroyed the floor in B 67-71.
Excavation of this stratum exposed the tile leveling course for the square block under the irregularly shaped block that is wall 290. See B73 & B74. Very little pottery and tiles found, a farily sterile soil. Basket stopped due to soil change. The reddish pebbly stratum was not found in its entirety.
Small pick used throughout. None of this basket was sieved.
Three bronze coins were uncovered in this layer: 1.) E 412.18/N 972,84/H 90.84 2.) E 412,60/N 972.75/H 90,95 3.) E 413,45/N 972,36/H 91,03
