Corinth Basket: NB977 B33 P85
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   NB977 B33 P85
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   977
Context:   33
Page:   85
Date:   2006/05/06
Stratum:   Fill south of wall 291 and E of 412.5 E - Medium brownish brown compact sandy silt with 2-5 % pebbles and tiles
Notes:   We cut the exposed surface S of E-W line of blocks (wall 291) in two halves by creating an arbitrary N-S boundary for B33. We started digging to E of a line drawn at 412.40, 972.99 and 412.52, 969.70. The goal is to check how deep the fill continues. There is no noticable soil change in S and E sections for a good 20-25 cm. A nozzle of a ER lamp surfaced S of E-W line of blocks. Higher concentration of tiles E of N-S line of blocks (5%) (wall 290). Soil in this area was drier and a little bit harder. Immediately S of last block from N-S line, a small patch of reddish softer soil was detected surrounded by black harder soil. Basket was closed after removing 5-10 cm. layer across the entire area of B33. (see plan).
Points after B33:
A: 415.00, 974.39, 91.63
B: 414.51, 971.70, 91.54 (red patch)
C: 413.28, 969.98, 91.56
** Since we arbitrarily chose to dig south of the E-W line of blocks (wall 291) and E of 412.50 E, the layers to the W of 412.5 E and to the N of wall 291 should be equated with the corresponding layers in the baskets currently being dug. **
