| Notes: | The matrix of this basket is medium brown sandy silt with 50% large cobbles. B59 is the removal of the rubble fill between the N-S row of stones and the E wall of the cistern. The fill is composed of layers of earth and medium subrounded cobbles. The concentration of roof tile fragments is significantly less in comparison to the fill on the W side of the row of stones, with only a few fragments being collected. Some chunks of carbon have also been noted withing the matrix. Also some large fragments of mortar, possibly from the wall of the cistern were noted in the fill, or perhaps from a floor. The stones that form the E boundary of the foundation fill are also been removed in this basket as it is decided that they are part of it. Upon the removal of the stones of the E boundary, a layer of fragments of roof tiles appears underneath them. It is therefore decided to end this basket here since some of the roof tile fragments could belong to the bottom layer of B56. | |
