Stratum: | Fill north of Wall 260, south of Wall 215, and west of Pit 2005-01. The stratum is light/medium yellowish brown sandy silt with 30% pebbles and almost no cobbles, compact.
Notes: | B 28 is the excavation of the area just west of Pit 2005-01, which is higher in elevation than the western half of our trench and probably lying on top of the large sherd patch just to the west, which cleaning basket B 26 exposed. But before we began removing soil, we first took out a large piece of mudbrick, which we think belongs with B 21 rather than with B 28. Furthermore there were a few pieces of painted plaster in association with this chunk of mudbrick, which we are including with the three boxes from B 21. When we finished excavating, we uncovered three surfaces. First, we found what looks to be a post-mold (which we're excavating first as B 29), which is next to Pit 2005-01. Next to foundation trench B 25, the soil is darker and softer with no rubble. The rest of the surface is harder and pebbly. We sieved 100%. Found plaster, iron, bronze and glass. See pg. 50 for top plan.
