Corinth Basket: NB979 B4 P5 Collection: | | Corinth | Type: | | Basket | Name: | | NB979 B4 P5 | Area: | | Panaghia west | Category: | | Basket/zembil | Notebook: | | 979 | Context: | | 4 | Page: | | 5 | Date: | | 2006/04/25 | Stratum: | | Removal of the area directly to the east of B 1, 2, 3. B 4 was slightly raised in relation to the other layers and so must remain distinct. The fill is covering wall 260. | Notes: | | We are removing it beginning against wall 289 and fanning W and S in order to determine edges. The soil is a medium yellowish brown silty earth with 20% pebbles and almost no cobbles. B 4 is also a different color in that it is medium in contrast. It also appears to have fewer finds in it but has the same general consistancy of 20% pebbles. It too is firm but easy to pick. After removing B 4, we examined the area and concluded that the soil directly east of the foundation trench B 49 NB957 seems to be a continuation. Also, it appears as though B 4 may extend to the North and across until Wall 215. However, we will probably remove the area as a separate basket because B 4 may continue under that soil. To the direct west of B 4 there appears to be a distinction between the northern and southern half. The northern is less cobbly and the southern half if more cobbly.
