Stratum:   Colluvial wash between Walls 215 and 260. The stratum dark reddish brown sandy silt with 40% pebbles and 25% cobbles, loose
Notes:   B 41 is the removal of the darker colluvial wash pretty much in the middle of the trench. We are still looking for Geometric graves but we are also investigating the large stones. As soon as we started excavating, we noticed that soil gradually became very loose and looked to be the fill of a pit. After about an hour, we were able to define the western edge (where the tiles lie possibly in association with the two protruding stones) and the northern edge (against the large stones, which could form a foundation for a wall running south of and parallel to Wall 215), because of compactness. However, we haven't defined the southern edge, which might go under Wall 260, the relationship of the pit 9B 30, 33, 35) or the eastern edge, which currently goes up to the less sandy colluvium directly west of Pit 2005-01. Furthermore, these undefined edges are more alluvial with lots of tiny pebbles. Also, we have excavated between the tiles and the two protruding stones from Wall 260 and could have knocked out later sherds. For this reason we are arbitrarily stopping after this pass and opening a new basket. No carbon or shells have been found. At this point it is unclear if this is a burial. See pg. 73 for top plan.
