Date:   2006/05/24
Lot:   Lot 2006-020
Stratum:   Pit fill of GR 2006-4. Medium dark brownish brown sandy clay with 35% pebbles, 10% cobbles, very loose.
Notes:   B 67 is a continuation of B 66 (in the same place). It is south of wall 215 and north of the slab. It is significantly looser than the soil of B 66. We are approximately 30 cm above the lid of the sarcophagus. The soil seems very similar to that of B 54 on the other side of the slab. We have found what might be a small piece of ivory (turned out to be shell). We have also found a piece of Melian rock. There are patches of green marl clay in the north end of the basket. There appears to be a hole which is mostly likely a crack in the sarcophagus lid. It seems that the soil direclty over the sarcophagus lid around the hole is different from that around it. We are going to stop this basket in order to determine the nature of the disturbance. We sieved 80% and water sieved 20%. There is a difference of red vs. brown soil which we will differentiate in the next baskets.
