Stratum:   Fill, light brownish-reddish brown, very soft 10% fine-medium pebbles poorly sorted silty sand
Notes:   B24 extends across the entire trench save for the SW corner. The goal here was to dig through the same soft fill as we were finding around and below the graves. WE decided to include the area of reddish brown earth at the N end of the trench as, aside from tint , it seemed to be more or less the same as the brownish fill; we also thought at the time that it rests upon a hard clayey layer as it was found throughout the trench . At the bottom of B24 however, the reddish earth persists, and the type of earth below it is unclear. So we are halting digging in the reddish area for now. The tile at the bottom of B15 was founbd to be part of the light soft brown fill that we have been digging. It is unclear as to whether, the architectural block to its N is strictly in the same layer of fill or it extends down into the clay (it looks now as though it may). At the end of B24, 3 distinct areas have been identified: A reddish brown in the NE, a blondish brown clayey in the W, and a softer patch in the soft central area. Each will be dug separately.
