Context:   5

Date:   2006/05/16
Stratum:   grave and fill, light brownish brown, very soft, 10% fine-medium pebbles poorly sorted silty sand
Notes:   The skull elevation is 91.81. B5 consists of the bone stack (N979,40, S 978.85, E 422.90, W 422.30) and an exploration to the E about a meter wide. The bone stack was left untouched while the search for the cut for the grave to the E was undertaken. The East area was approximately 10cm lower than the bone stack area at the beginning of excavation as a large portion of this area was under GR2001-17. The East area of B5 was scraped down to reveal a possible grave oriented E-W as well as a second grave underneath the bone stack going further W. Portions of the feet of the second grave were revealed in the exploratory survey which confirmed a second burial to the W. This area will be B7 (that of the grave of the W: see page 24 for a plan). The cutting to the E of the bone stack was determined based upon a slightly darker color and softer texture. Visible at the top of the bone stack was a skull and an additional small bone to the N. The skull and associated graves will be known as GR2006-01.
