Notes:   B58 is for the digging of the reddish brown earth of the N Cut (around the gravelly areas of B55 and B57). At the bottom of this basket the earth has become brown (the brown slopes slightly downward from E to W); an additional small strip of gravelly earth has been exposed extending S from the area of gravel dug in B57. We may have reached the bottom of the N Cut; after the gravel strip is removed we will dig elsewhere.
