Notes: | B71 is for the digging of the soft earth within the stone/tile semicircle found in B70. The block removed in B70 likely served as a cap for this feature, which would have received water from the water channel to its S. The stones and tiles of the semicircle remain partially obscured by the same harder fill as remains in the rest of the W side of the trench, though the earth within the semicircle should be later, as it would have been the result of earth influx/water action after the water channel system went out of use. At the bottom of B71, the earth became somewhat harder, but should still be post-use fill, and will be dug in B72. All of this fill is being sieved | |
