Stratum:   fill of bothros, light brownish brown, very soft, 5% fine-coarse pebbles, moderately sorted fine sand
Notes:   The earth of this basket is slightly harder than that above (B71). This feature, which will now be known as the bothros, may well be a well that predates the water channel and tile feature but was later taken advantage of as a location of drainage for the water channel. It was heavily disturbed when the water pipe trench was laid; the edges of several major blocks visible at the E side of the water pipe trench are probably the disturbed E side of the bothros' stone/tile circular head. As visible in B72, the head consists of 3 layers: a top one of tile, a middle of worked stone, and a bottom of tile. This bottom layer stops at an el. Of approx. 90.75; below it only a few cobbles are visible. Within the bothros, several large stones (.20 - .45 m.), part of the post use fill, appeared. Baskets will be changed, and we will continue with the fill in B73. There is still no indication of a point of entry for the water channel. B72 expanded beyond the space occupied by B71 because its earth was found to continue up to the later water pipe trench.
