Stratum:   Fill, light brownish brown silty sand, 10% small cobbles, tiles.
Notes:   After clearing a small, cobbly patch of fill in B 19, we are taking down all the fill below the burials Gr 2006-9 and 2006-10. The soil is only loosely compacted and has lenses with more than 10% cobbles--generally it looks like stirred up debris. Occasional pieces of mortar/lime turn up, and a dark, soft lens of soil has become apparent lining the graves. We are halting the basket as a precaution to clear out the dark material from the graves before going down further. Along the northern scarp (N977) around E410-411 some bones are mixed in the fill, although there is no burial here.
We stopped the basket and cleared out the graves pits, merging any finds from the graves with the grave baskets (minimal finds, plaster fragments).
