Stratum:   Dumped or collapsed architectural debris. Light reddish brown semi compacted silty sand with debris of mud-bricks (red, green), cobbles, tiles.
Notes:   With this basket we removed the last deposit of building debris from the area which appears contemporary with the B 32 debris, although spatially separated by the Bask 33 brick-clay rich soil through the middle of the trench. We pulled out debris to reveal a step-out in the face of wall 291, which the debris was lying up against.
The debris and semi-compacted fill peeled off to reveal a brown, loose gravelly fill (with roughly 50% rounded pebbles) quite distinct from anything above. The foundation trenches for Walls 290 and 291 both continued below the debris, and the trench for 290 faded into corner, where the wall foundations expanded into the cut for the trench and were built of unworked cobbles. The foundation trench for wall 291 continued toward the same corner, where it was cut into the loose gravelly fill. It fades into a console on its east end, so the two trenches do not quite meet each other at the corner, although the walls are clearly bonded. The console on the wall is made of stones which step out on the north side of wall 294 to the corner from E412.50-413.75. This console would have been above the floor level, so far as the position of the building debris (accumulated up against it) suggests. Finally, we can see the loose gravelly fill rests on (cuts) the remaining reddish brown soil in the center of the area, and it runs as far north as the south edge of the group of stones at E412.50-413/N975-976 which vaguely resemble a wall. The gravel appears to be cutting the group of stones, if that feature indeed continued to the south of N975.
