Stratum:   Building debris over loose fill. Lightly compacted reddish brown sitly sand with 10%. Some areas with concentration of mud-brick.
Notes:   We opened this basket in order to explore the NW corner of the trench. We removed the large boulder and cleared around and beneath it. The fill was relativel sterile with the familiar reddish brown silty sand predominating in the last half meter next to the scarp. From approximately 976.00-976.50 there was a higher concentration of mud brick. One objective of this basket was to explore the north end of the foundation trench of wall 294. Near the southern edge of the basket the trench disappeared. Instead we encountered mud-brick destruction debris. Another objective was to find the relationship between this soil and the black soil to the east of the basket. The present fill appears to cut into the black soil, although the separation is basically vertical so far. We closed the basket and opened B36 for the fill below.
