Lot:   Lot 2007-012
Stratum:   Mixed fill west of pit 2006-4, dark, yellowish-brown, poorly cemented, 10% inclusions, moderately sorted, pebbles and cobbles
Notes:   This pass removed a martyr arbitrarily left between the fill west of the well head/manhole and the edge of the baulk on the west side of the trench. This mixed fill continued to contain small amounts of pottery and tile as well as a fair amount of painted wall plaster. The soil at the bottom of this basket became slightly more reddish, though the basket was closed arbitrarily when we reached the closing level of basket 66. The western edge of this basket also began to slant slightly inward, perhaps suggesting that we have reached the edge of this mixed fill to the west. We also removed several large stones that appeared to be worked. One of these stones (L. 36 cm, W. 24 cm, H. 35 cm), when removed, appeared to be part of a feature moving north under the baulk of the trench.
