Stratum:   Soil in course of Wall 287. Soil is light brownish brown sandy clay with 20% pebbles, 20% cobbles, compact.
Notes:   B 51 is a continuation of B 48. However, it is south of W 290 and B 50 since Bill saw a soil change in B 50 and now we dig it separately. It appears as if B 51 could be the soil fill into the removed block while B 50 is the southern extent of the foundation trench for W 290. A level cobble layer is being exposedt hat looks to be just below the lowest exposed course of W 287. Strangely, the cobbly layer does not extent to the eastern edge of the basket. These cobbly stones, which were probably laid for the foundation of the wall, could be further down on the east or have been pulled out for some reason. Found wall plaster and bronze nail. See top plan pg. 85.
