Stratum:   Fill cut into by drain for castellum (NB974, B51-2). Soil is medium reddish brown sandy clay with 20% pebbles, 10% cobbles, loose.
Notes:   Last night it rained making differentiation of the soil much more difficult today. We removed a strip of soil running around the castellum drain trench on its northern edge. We came down on a clay layer that extends further north in the trench. See top plan pg. 18.
