Stratum:   Fill. Dark reddish brown; fine grained, compact. 20% inclusions. Fine pebbles to cobbles very poorly sorted. Silty sand.
Notes:   Basket 29 removed a small section of soil just south of wall 297. The soil was a very darkish red and was noticed after lighter red soil was removed in the hump in basket 28. Within the soil there were small bits of charcoal observed . Small bits of mudbrick were also noticed and these mudbrick chunks may explain the dark reddish color of the soil. As with basket 28, there were a number of inclusions in this basket with pebbles and cobbles, however, the inclusions were not as common as in basket 28. It is unclear exactly what this stratum represents but it appears to be a small area with mudbrick fill. It is also possible that this basket is associated with the red soil uncovered at the bottom of Basket 33, which is thought to be an alluvial deposit.
