Date:   2007/05/17
Lot:   Lot 2007-009
Stratum:   Fill, light yellowish brown, semi-loose, 10 percent inclusions, moderately sorted, pebbles and cobbles
Notes:   Removal of fill north of cistern 2006-1. We removed this fill in order to further define the edges of pit 2007-2 north of the cistern to uncover any possible foundation trenches for W297 and W298 and to further understand the relationship and sequence of the pit, the cistern and W297. We closed this basket once the edges of the pit were revealed and we came down on a layer of colluvium. At the close of this basket we also uncovered slightly different strata along the north edge of W298. This soil is likely associated with the foundation trench for W298and will be excavated in later baskets. This basket revealed a small amount of pottery and a single fragment of bronze. The plan for this basket is on page 101. There is no evidence for a foundation trench for W297.
