Stratum:   Removal of block feature west of the diamond tile pool, very dark, yellowish-brown, silty, 15% inclusions, moderately sorted, pebbles and cobbles.
Notes:   Pass to remove the block feature west of the diamond tile pool. We removed seven blocks from over, in, and under this feature. The removal of these blocks revealed a stone channel to which none of these stones was cemented (contra NB 985 B 11 and 12). Block 1 (cf. top plan B 30) rested on a ca. .004 m layer of compacted soil on top of block 2, covering the entire area of interface. Block 2 rested on a ca. .01 layer of compacted soil above the upright sides of the northern block of the stone channel, covering the entire interface. Block 3 rested within the uprights of the northern block of the stone channel, lodged in a compacted layer of soil of variable thickness. A ca. .12 m chunk of mortar rested above block 3, however it did not bond to any blocks or the stone channel feature. Blocks 4-7 were found floating in the stratum below the level of the stone channel. Block 6 had an oblique scalloped cutting with painted plaster. We closed the basket when we came across a change in stratum to the north and when we were restricted from continuing by the stone channel.
