Context:   1064

Date:   2013/04/16
Stratum:   Stones (pebbles), ceramics, tile, bone
Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context, 1064, is a narrow deposit running E-W, just N of and cut by the robbing trench W of Wall 807, that is, 915. Excavation begins to reveal tile fragments bedded horizontally: not thickly packed, but sufficiently consistent to suggest they lay on a surface, perhaps -- perhaps! -- a destruction layer.
However, eventual excavation of these tiles as Deposit 1074 does not support the destruction layer hypothesis. They did lay on the surface of 1076, however.
