Description: | Top slope of the context is moderate down to the N. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes: | After we saw the soil change below 1113, we ended the context. To the N of Wall 918 there was still a natural baulk. With this we could see the soil change and the layer under 1113 continuing under the bault. As a result we will open 1114 which is a deposit to the S of 1113, and deposited earlier than 1113, which overlays it in the S portion. The contexts to the E and W of 1114 are tile rich and lighter than 1114 and will be excavated separately. This context was brought to a close when we came down upon the pebbly lighter layer that was exposed in 1113. This layer slopes upward to the south as it comes to the wall. This, along with the unlevel surface suggests it was a dump fill. 16/5 by KJ: there was a UnIDed amphora jug in 1113
