Corinth Basket: Nezi Field, context 113
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Nezi Field, context 113
Area:   Nezi Field
Title:   Third most recent clay floor associated with the o
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1100
Context:   113
Page:   0
Date:   2007/05/14
Stratum:   Inclusions 50%: thin roots, pottery, bone, stones (medium and small cobbles, coarse pebbles, medium pebbles; rounded, sub-rounded, angular).
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the NThe soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   This basket is below B102 and B105, excluding the darker area under B102 that was excavated as B110.
The deposit is quite dried out, and washed out, but it has patches of reddish yellow that are still relatively bright.
Nine shovelfuls were sent to the wet sieve (ca. 1 bagful); twenty-five shovelfuls were sent to the dry sieve.
The spur of B110 that exends over to the pit (cut = B76) to the east dug primarily to check whether the surface underneath B110 also extended to the edge of the pit; that is, B113 should extend along the western edge of the pit and connect to the clay deposit revealed under B106 to the south. This will all be dug as one basket. [Later note: decided to in fact dig as two separate baskets].
Underneath B113, in its NE extent especially, we have found soil (there is maybe some more clay in its NW extent). The soil under B113 in its E and NE extent is cobbly, soft, and dark. B113 has most likely been overdug in this area. [Later note: there was no clay under B113, so this was not overdug, it was simply that there was no earlier phase of clay flooring here].
