Description:   The soil color is light reddish brown. It is clayey sand. Structure materials: Ceramic tile of various fabrics (see notes). Material size: Average tile c. .12 x .10 m.. Material finish: N/A. Material construction: N/A. Features: 18 different ceramic ware fabrics of various frags.
Notes:   1182 is composed of 18 different ceramic ware fragments, of at least two distinct types. Tile Type 1 is a pale yellow fabric and appears to be a roof tile (the big westernmost and southernmost tile)-- it is bigger and thicker than the others. Tile Type 2 has an orange fabric, similar to the perirhanterion. Additional types have yet to be determined with certainty; upon removal of tiles we noted that there was more variety in the fabric type as some of the smaller tiles also had a yellowish fabric. Some pieces are definitely curved.
It appears to have been truncated on the east side and to the south by the foundation trench. Found at the same level as the topmost part of the western tile was part of a Classical perirrhanterion with red and black painted bands along the outward exterior rim-- these were visible at the time of excavation. Although splintered during excavation, the perirhanterion was running around the southern edge of the large, westernmost tile; it may have been sitting upon the tile structure at least on the western side. While some large pieces of ceramic were pulled up further west during the excavation of 1181, we do not think that these were similarly compact like tile structure 1182.
A rectangular cut to the east, along the west side of deposit 1193, could indicate the eastern extent of the tile feature, as it appears to be in alignment. This area from the east of tile feature 1182 to the rectangular cut mentioned above was disturbed down to a third clay floor into which a cooking pot was embedded.
