Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SE. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the SEThe soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   B143 is the same context as B116 which Andreas excavated on 14/05/07 (see notes for B116). We excavated this context in two baskets because there was a suspiciously linear group of cobbles that separated the two patches dug as 116 and 143. As we excavated 143, however, if became clear that these cobbles were not part of a larger structure nor were they well-founded on the clay below. It is possible that these cobbles are all that remains of the wall that may have been robbed out from the clay bedding below this basket.
We excavated B143 both to complete the removal of the compound context B116=B143 and as part of our continuing effort to clear all the contexts from the area north of the EW wall's construction trench that are either later than any of the contexts which are present on both sides of the EW wall's construction trench or are small areas of fill later than larger earlier contexts.
