Stratum:   inclusions: 10% total: a moderaly sorted mix of rounded cobbles, angular pebbles of all sizes, sherds, and small carbon frags.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark pinkish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context is defined by its color (pinker or redder) and its lack of a larger % of cobble inclusions that defined the contexts excavated above B145. Its firm compaction is also distinctive.
This is a context that overlies a large area in the central portion of the excavation area. This context continues north of the depression left by the removal of the E-W wall (cut of foundation trench of wall = B73) so was cut by the construction of the wall and predates the wall. This is the first context that has been recognized to be on either side of this wall and thus excavated in two parts but with one basket.
A large pit was revealed under B85. This pit (top fill = B144) cuts B145. However, for the sake of time and efficiency, we are digging B145 before the pit has been fully excavated. We are leaving a martyr around the lip of the pit to prevent contamination of B145.
With the removal of B145 a new context is revealed in the extremem SE corner of the area of this basket. This new context is a dark pinkish brown with more cobble and tile frag inclusions - these larger inclusions make this new context distinctive from surrounding deposits. This new deposit lie under the very light colored clayey soil still unexcavated in the SE1/4 of the excavation area. The new larger-inclusion-filled context also runs under the remaining B145, not yet fully removed at this moment. Therefore, after the removal of B145, the clayey soil in the SE1/4 of the excavation area can now be excavated in stratagraphic sequence.
B145 extends ca 0.9m west of the cut of the pit (top fill = B144) and so over the N-S wall revealed W B129. However, south of the pit, the N-S wall bounds this context - B145 is not found west of the wall on the S side of the pit. A different context there.
