Description:   The soil color is mixed.
Notes:   This area was first bull-dozed. Then, the workmen cleaned in order to remove the remainder of that agricultural plow-zone.
The workmen started from the south-west corner near the ramp and proceeded north. They cleaned the full-length north-south and about 2m wide strips west-east. They also cleared out loose soil that fell from above and was not part of the excavation. It seemed that the final soil from the plow zone was majorly removed by the bull-dozer. The first thing that became visible during the cleaning was part of a wall and maybe a pithos near the ramp in the south-west corner. In fact, the plow may have destroyed the top of the pithos. The pithos seemed to be placed in the corner of the room, perhaps in situ. The right angle of the 2 walls also appeared, but there was no south edge visible of the east-west well. The wall goes into the ramp. Perhaps this is an internal room. There was a different and whiter soil to the south of this "wall" edge. A drain and cut for a drain were also revealed running north-south. The cut may have been over-dug. Two pipe segments were damaged during internal discovery. The drain runs along the same linea s the wall to the south. There is evidence of the construction of the drain in the opposite scarp and a section runs through the upper wall of the Turkish foundation. The drain likely supplied the Giambourni house (on top of the Turkish foundation).
During the over-cleaning of the drain cut at the internal discovery spot, a coin was found. This coin should be associated with the context of the fill in the cut for the drain. We listed this oin in this cleaning context because enough of the cut fill remains to supply sufficient context material. Two other coins were also found during the cleaning.
The cleaning continued in the mornings and when workers were not needed in their designated areas. Thus, after the initial pass on the west, the cleaning of this area was not under our direct supervision.
The only other find brought to our attention during the rest of the cleaning was part of a large, spiral shell. A few structures are also now visible, some of which continue from the 2007 excavations from the north.
