Stratum:   A clayey surface over reddish brown soil, weakly cemented.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the NThe soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We are excavating the clayey surface (floor?) in the E end of the room N of Room F, W. It underlies another floor-like surface which we excavated in B 5067, in an area which was built up to a higher elevation with this firm soil than the surrounding area. Altogether in this area the clayey material forms a deep deposit, deeper than I would expect for a floor. However, the contexts of each layer differ.
Immediately to the W is a layer (as yet unexcavated) which looks to be a destruction layer, with rooftiles, mud bricks, and carbon.
As we neared completion of this context, we investigated the extent of B 5070 along the area (N face) from which we removed the wall in B 5051. We found a clear differentiation between B 5070 and the line of the wall, which in addition to the masonry has much redder soil. We are stopping here, as it is beyond the scope of my term to move back into Room F, W - the priority is to work in N of Room F to reach the destruction level and excavate it; and to excavate the W side of the room which may reveal continuations of pits excavated in Room F, W.
