| Description: | Top slope of the context is steap down to the E. The soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | To the W of the large pit 5173 and outside of it is a strip 0.42 m long, oriented N-S, of dark ashy color on the W and red on the E. It appeared that some similar colors surfaced near the W lower wall of the large pit 5173, so perhaps pit 5173 cut some structure or feature here. Therefore we are excavating this area as a separate basket. A large tile was removed. As we excavated we realized we were digging the fill of a pit. We reached a level with a lot of ash and hard mud brick. The mud brick may belong to the same context as the ash but we will change baskets just in case. In the new basket we will just remove the mud brick to expose the ash. | |
