Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. The soil color is very dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We start taking context 5235 with the assumption it is a foundation trench for Wall 5218. The soil seems to have many broken tiles fragments and frequent cobbles. As it goes down, it stays similar. At 0.55m N of the scarp (c. 1021N), there is a block that protrudes 0.08 m from the wall into the trench, suggesting that this may be part of the foundation.
In the soil from context 5235, there are rare flecks of charcoal and also a couple of olive pits. There was also a diamond tile and rectangular fragment of marble. Few large pieces of cement. The largest is L 0.14m, W 0.12m, H 0.10m. Some fragments of mudbrick.
We stopped the context at this level because the soil got redder to the S and harder to the N. At the N end of the foundation trench it may continue under another layer.
Also the N end of the cut seems to be 0.10 m N of a cut in a large block in Wall 5218, which makes it look like a reused door jamb.
Tile count was 96 and weight was 16.4 kg.
