Stratum:   Mixed soil due to it being exposed in 1960's and has remained exposed until this season. A crust of natural deposit with varying soil types and humus define this context
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is very poorly sorted. It is mixed- see description.
Notes:   Once we had excavated the northern parts of this area west of the N-S wall, we got to a layer which with a exposed a possible hearth near a pithos which was uncovered in the 1960's. The 1960's excavations also left what appeared to be an unexcavated lump with modern debris and humus to the south. We therefore decided to take a cleaning context. Once this lump was removed, it appeared to overlie 5234. The limits of cleaning context 5237 include the N-S oriented wall on the east and the E-W wall to the south, and the scarp from the 1960's excavation to the west. Once excavated, a mound was discovered in the most southern area of the trench abuting the South wall. This mound should be the first context removed when this area is reopened for excavation.
