Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit 5400 is the fill of a large pit. The cut of the it was visible in the layer revealed by the removal of 5393. It is roughly circular with a notched cut in the N. W. quadrant. Thhe fill witin the pit is similar to the deposit 5393, which was identified as backfill. The excavation of this fill in this pit is intended to remove only about 0.10 m of soil, in order to make the cut evident. The cut will be recorded as a cut context (5404).
After examination of the scarp of the cut exposed by the removal of deposit context 5400, colluvium was noted around the cut, with the exception of the NW quadran, where it appears that the cut 5404 cuts an earlier feature.
In order to prevent contamination of earlier contexts in this area between the Turkish Wall, Wall 5285, Wall 5284, and Wall 5216, it is decided to placed nylon over the unexcavated backfill in the pit and cover it with sieved dirt.
