Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We are now excavating the clayey layer encountered while excavating context 5406. Beneath the clayey layer, which is quite thin, we are encountering softer and looser soil. We find some bits of charcoal. To find the surface running from the north along the wall, we conduct another pass through this softer redder soil. When we arrive at this layer, we notice that it does not bond to wall 5284, but it is separate from this wall, with root growth occurring wihin the interval left. We stop here, preparing to excavate the floor and other soil obscuring it.
